When Brent met his future wife, Sarah, he went in full pursuit of a relationship with her.  He did things so she would notice him.  Once they became a couple, he was willing to do anything (even go for walks in the rain!) to impress and spend time with her.  Once they got married, the walks stopped because Brent had a change of heart.  He no longer “needed” to impress Sarah.

Seek God First

Our walks with God can be similar.  We need to make sure that we are pursuing God first in our lives!  Too many Christians have stopped pursuing God.  They have stopped doing what it takes to spend time with God and are just going through the motions.  They are pursuing bigger houses, promotions, or personal ambitions instead of pursuing God.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”  Matt 7:7-8

Examine Yourself

Examine your life.  What are you thirsting after?  What are you pursuing?  What is motivating you?  If you are pursuing things BEFORE God, you to put things back in order.

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”  Eph. 4:21-24

Ask God to forgive you and to help you to seek Him first.
