Wisconsin summers are short, so we try to cram as much into them as we can.  It’s very easy to get too busy and miss out on the important things of life.  In order to avoid this, we need to know what we’re called to do and get our households in order.  Then God will empower us to live the life He’s called us to.

Know What You are Called to Do

God gives a clear layout of what we are supposed to be doing with our lives:

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” Matt 28:18-20

We are supposed to be making disciples and teaching them to obey God’s commands.  We need to know the Word of God in order to be teaching it.  Make sure you are studying the Bible so you can teach it.  We don’t have to do this on our power and strength…God will be with us and empower us as we do it (Mt 28:20).

Many people don’t feel worthy or called to make disciples.  When Samuel was looking to anoint the next king, David’s own father overlooked him (1 Sam 16).  Just because the world, your family or your pastor says something, doesn’t mean that God says that about you!

Get Your Household in Order

“In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, ‘This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.’”  2 Kings 20:1

We need to fix the things that are not right in our lives.  Are you knowingly living in sin?  Make things right.  Broken relationships?  What can you do to start restoration?  Are your priorities out of order?  Start putting them in order.

God will empower us to live the life He’s called us to.
