As you become a mature Christian, you will look at the world differently.  You will get more responsibilities.  Many Christians just want to be spoon-fed and don’t ever mature.  We all can become mature – we need to choose to do so!

If you would like to experience the complete service (including worship and prayer time), please view our Live Stream of the service on our Facebook page.

King David started out with an army of disgruntled (immature!) people.  His army consisted of “all those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him” (1 Samuel 2:22).  David was an effective leader who helped his men go from distressed, discontented people to world changers.

Through the Psalms we can see practical things David did to help his men mature.  We too can do these things to mature.

Stop Complaining and Start Praising!

Even in the midst of trying times, David praised God.

“I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.”  Psalm 34:1-3

We too need to stop complaining and praise God for who He is and what He has done.

Trust the Lord Completely

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.  Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”  Psalm 34:4-5

It is so easy to run and hide in the face of giants (trials).  However, we need to run to God instead!  We are microwave society….we want our prayers answered immediately.  God often has different plans and timelines, so we need to keep on praying!  Be persistent with your prayers and don’t give up.

Do Something with Your Gifts

When God puts something on your heart, DO IT!   Be willing to do the little things.  Get involved somewhere and do something.

Fear God, Not Man

“Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing.
The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.” Psalm 34:9-10

Look at Jonah – he couldn’t run from God.  Be faithful – don’t run or sleep when God asks you to do something.
