In times of panic, does any good happen?  When Pastor Brent played basketball, they would “press” the opposing team, which is forcing the team to panic and then take undesirable shots.  Satan does the same thing to us.  The enemy is trying to cause us to panic, which causes us to trust in ourselves instead of God. During times that you find yourself worrying or panicking, remember that God is fighting for you, don’t waste your time chasing after the riches of the world, and find satisfaction in God alone.

God is Fighting for You

The Israelites found themselves in a panic situation as Pharaoh started to pursue them after they fled from Egypt.

“As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”  Exodus 14:10-14

What a great reminder… we need only be still because the Lord will fight for us!!!!

Don’t Chase the Riches of the World

“And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’

“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’

“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”  Luke 12:16-21

Don’t waste your life chasing riches or glory.  Learn to be content with what God has given you.  Use your blessings (talents and resources) for God’s kingdom.  Do things that matter to God!

Find Satisfaction in God Alone

“Whom have I in heaven but you?  And earth has nothing I desire besides you.”  Ps. 73:25

You will never find true satisfaction in your spouse, children, job or home.  The enemy wants you to focus on what you don’t have instead of what you do have.  The joy of the Lord can happen at ALL times.
