Study after study shows that when fathers are absent, our society suffers.
- 90% of homeless & runaway children have absentee fathers
- 71% of high school drop-outs have absentee fathers
- 75% of drug abusers have absentee fathers
- 85% of youth in jail have absentee fathers
Revival starts in the home. We must stop letting “professionals” raise our kids – God has ordained mothers and fathers to raise their kids. It’s time for men to step up to the calling God has put on their lives. To do so, men need to push through their insecurities, get rid of idols, love their wives and love to worship.
Push through Insecurities
Most men struggle with insecurities, which has been happening for centuries. Even Gideon struggled with insecurity! He was threshing wheat in a winepress (hole in the ground) in order to hide from his enemies when an angel appeared to him.
“When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”
The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.’“ Judges 6:13-16
God is calling us (especially men) to get out of the hole and be the men God has called you to be! People can’t see you if you are hiding! Ask God to use you. Ask God to use your words to advance His kingdom. We can push through our insecurities because God is with us just like He was with Gideon.
God tells us that we “have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4).” You will never feel qualified in your own strength.
Courage is not the absence of fear, it’s following God in the midst of fear.
Get Rid of Idols
The same day that the angel appeared to Gideon, God told Gideon to cut down the idols in his community (Judges 6:25). An idol is anything we put before God. Examine your life. What are you putting before God?
Love Your Wife
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” Ephesians 5:25 “
In order to be good fathers, men MUST love their wives. This means they must lay down their lives for the wives. Men, when you step out of the hole, God will move!!!!
Love to Worship
When a mother is the primary person bringing kids the church, 37% of kids attend church. When the mother & father attend church, 80% of kids attend church. Men, go to church! Get involved in your church.
