This week we had very poor air quality due to the Canadian wildfires.  It was difficult to even breathe.  Some of us have been figuratively walking around in smoke and have been struggling to breathe.  If this is the case, you need to make sure to pray and to live life with purpose.

Pray

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”  1 Tim 2:1-5

It pleases God when we pray.  We need to pray for everyone!  When God puts someone on your heart, pray!  Pray for those that persecute and hurt you.  Pray for your leaders and government officials – that they would surrender their lives to God, not just act in a way that would benefit you.

Life a Life of Purpose

King Solomon is known for his wisdom, women and wealth. He spent much of his life chasing after wealth and women, only to find that it was a disappointment.

“A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”  Ecc 2:24-26

How often we spend our lives chasing after temporary things.  Instead, we need to be fulfilling the lives God has called us to.  Practice hospitality (Matt 10:40), look for ways to serve others and please God.
