God tells us to “number our days aright, that we might gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). We all have a limited number of days on this Earth, how are we spending them? Are we complaining? Wandering aimlessly? We need to live our days on this Earth intentionally. We can do this by stopping complaining, living for Christ’s Kingdom and keeping our focus on the prize.
Stop Grumbling and Complaining
A mere forty-five days after the Israelites were freed from slavery and fled from Egypt, they were GRUMBLING and COMPLAINING (Exodus 16:12-15)! How easy it is for us to forget that God is our provider…it is not our boss, our retirement accounts, the government, etc.
“Do everything without complaining or arguing.” Philippians 2:14
We have been given a very clear command, but it’s hard to do! Look for the opportunities and gifts you have been given, instead of complaining!
Live for Christ’s Kingdom
Our responsibility is to know Christ and to make Him known. If heaven is truly our home, how are we living on this Earth? Are we honoring God and pointing others to Him?
Focus on the RIGHT Things
“You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth?” Galatians 5:7
When you are running a race, you focus on the person in front of you. If you lose your point of focus, it’s easy to get further behind or not finish the race. There are many good things to focus on in life, however we need to keep our eyes on the BEST thing – God!
There are a few common distractions that keep us from running a good race:
- Possessions can distract us. Is upkeep of your home consuming your time and thoughts or are you using your home to proclaim the Word of God?
- Problems are very distracting! Yet, when we stop to look at them, how often we do cause our own problems?
- Our Past can hinder us. Satan wants to keep us looking backwards instead of toward the future!
What is distracting you? We can deal with distractions by calling them out and then asking God to help us deal with them.
