In our society, many people want to be social media influencers.  As Christians, we are CALLED to be influencers!  In order to be Christian influencers, we need to be passionate about Jesus, use the talents and abilities God has given us and illuminate the light of Jesus.  Furthermore, we need to stop being people-pleasers and become God-pleasers instead.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

‘You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.’”  Mt 5:13-16

So, how do we become influencers?  According to the world’s standards, in order to be a social media influencer, people need to know their audience, be creative in their content and select a topic they are knowledgeable and passionate about.  We become Christian influencers by:

Becoming passionate and knowledgeable about Jesus

What are you passionate about?  Your passion for Jesus will grow as you dig into His word, learn more about Him and seek to obey Him.

Using the gifts and talents God has given you

God has given us all unique abilities to advance His kingdom!!  Perhaps your gifting is in music, writing, listening to others, working with your hands or serving behind the scenes.  Use these gifts for His glory, not yours!

Having quality content

In order to have a high-quality photo or video, every professional knows that lighting is key.  God tells us to be the light of the world…need illuminate Christ in this world.   Light exposes and illuminates what is around it.

Become a God-pleaser

So many people are afraid to be a light because they are people pleasers.

Being a people pleaser will affect your relationship with God.  Being a God-pleaser will affect your relationship with people.

According to Proverbs 29:25, they are several traps of people pleasing:

  • Comparing yourself to others
  • Making excuses for what you are doing
  • Boasting about your accomplishments

Stop worrying about what others think and concern yourself with what God thinks about you!
